This time Club Telex presented Jimi Tenor and Nicole Willis (whose album Soul Makeover, produced by Jimi, was selected The Face's Soul Album of The Year), with their band, and we witnessed a soulful performance from this husband and wife team. Jimi, wearing a red kimono-like robe, played a genuine Hammond B3 organ, the guys from UMO accompanied with horns, Ilkka Mattila played guitar, Tuomo Puranen (of Op:l Bastards) was on bass; and with a British live drummer Simon Pearson, creating a very lush-sounding live combo together. This Tampere gig ended Jimi's Finnish tour, which had started in Turku and then moved on to Helsinki. We also showed before the show on screen Jimi's underground short movie Urinator, with its notorious penis-wagging supervillains and heroes.As for the DJ set, pHinn (a low-budget combination of Jimi Tenor and Mika Vainio) played again back to back with Mr. Mini [M.], Pirkkala's own Gary Numan. A nice ending for Telex's year. And no, we didn't play any Depeche Mode.
