Kel McKeown resurfaces under the Kelpe guise with a brand new four-track EP 'Sunburnt Eyelids' released on October 17th 2005 on DC Recordings. This follows the widespread acclaim of 'The People Are Trying To Sleep' EP (2003) and last year's astounding debut album 'Sea Inside Body'.

'Sunburnt Eyelids' opens with 'Quick Broken Harp', an innovative slice of digital future funk currently featured on the Summer Music Events on Channel 4 trailer. The introduction to 'Suitcasing' pits a monstrous dub bassline against a sparse rhythmic skeleton swarming with static effects before switching tempo and mutating into some deftly programmed drums and warm sweeping melodies, finally subsiding into an oddball ambience layered with acoustic guitar and unsettling laughter. On the flipside the bubbling fidgety funk of 'Cross Legged Breakfast' precedes the downtempo metallic beats of the texturally rich 'Look For Shiny Things'.

Rapidly developing a style all of his own, 'Sunburnt Eyelids' hints at a decisive direction for the next full-length Kelpe album due for release on DC Recordings early next year.
