Put Giorgio Moroder, Neu & King Tubby in a studio on the moon and "Expanding In Reproduction" could well be the result. An unlikely combination, I hear you cry, but Andy Meecham (one half of Big Two Hundred/Chicken Lips) returns under his Emperor Machine guise and successfully manages to merge 70's prog rock with 80's space disco/electro inside a dub-drenched echo chamber, to devastating effect.

Moving things on from the "Pro Mars" 12", "Expanding In Reproduction" introduces live instrumentation (Beebe on flute & Jamie Parkes on violin) over the trademark arpeggio synths and lunascopic beats. "Aimee Tallulah Is Hypnotised" is a 60's sci-fi inspired spatial interlude before "The Symptomatic Removal Of The Sanity" kicks in. If Dr Who had opted for a night clubbing on the planet Velusia over a quiet night in the Tardis this would have been the soundtrack. Dalek-destroying beats rage beneath a dark celestial canopy of distant analogue pulses, guitar feedback & an all-encompassing bass line.

Once again Mr Meecham delivers a truly original masterpiece that although retro in parts keeps one foot in the future.
