LFO

LFO, the project of Mark Bell and Jez Varley, must be one of the most influential techno acts of the early 1990's. Recording for Warp Records, their early singles like 'LFO' and two albums represented the early "Bleep" and "Clonk" techno scene at its best. Now the band has split, and LFO continues as a solo project of Mark Bell, who has produced among all Björk, and also Depeche Mode's album Exciter. As for Jez Varley, he records as G-Man, with releases for UK's Swim~ Records and others.

Note: this is not the same "LFO" as the band of 'Summer Girls' fame, so don't bother sending me any inquiries concerning them!

RELEASES (PROBABLY) BY OTHERS AS 'LFO' or 'L.F.O'

"Just one small point: I suspect that other bands using the name LFO were not attempting to rip off Bell & Varley, but had chosen the name indendently since LFO's (Low Frequency Oscillators) are a central part of all synths and samplers." - Toby Brundin, UK
